The Desire to fill

Bismillaah

Inside us is a vessel that has to be filled. It cannot remain empty. We seek to have it filled with the love of something. And it can be only one thing. It will attach itself to anything. It needs to love. Something, anything, but what will we allow it to love? This will be the basis of all our actions. The reason why we worked so hard. To have its pleasure.
This vessel is our heart. There are times when we would fill it with anything to feel complete, the emptiness would have killed us. We needed to feel a purpose in this life, someone to love, someone to work hard for, someone to appreciate us. Its the mission of our lives.
But no matter what we fill it with, if its not the right thing we will never be truly satisfied. Never. There's the sleepless nights. The worrying. "What if this is taken from me, then what? what if this happens?" Suspicion over takes our minds. There's no contentment. Our love for whatever it is becomes our obsession. And we hate that we are so attached. But we don't know what we would do without it. It has become us.
What we are longing for is the right spiritual attachment. And everyone has this desire to have a spiritual connection. Everyone. But we don't know what were looking for. Some of us will attach to friends. Seeking them for fulfillment. But we may not be satisfied even after hours of talking. Some of us we attach to money. Working 40 hours a week plus. But coming home feeling empty but the only thing keeping us going is how much more money we made today. Counting and Counting and Counting. But there's that irritating, unsatisfied part of us that wants more. Some of us will attach to other things to find pleasure. From any form of stress, we will run to something that will give us pleasure. And a spiritual crisis is what will bring about a lot of stress.
We need something greater than ourselves. Greater than what we do everyday. Can life be all about waking up going to work, coming back dead tired to do the same thing over and over everyday?
We need a spiritual uplifting. If we look outside. What do we see? A world so much bigger than ourselves. We see the sky. Its beautiful. If you ask anyone who created it, they'll say "God"
Shouldnt he be appreciated for giving such a magnificent world to see around us? All of these creations point to him. He wants us to reflect, to think. To have our minds and our hearts focused on Him. The one who created me and you. The one who gave us the ability to love.
When we remember him and thank him for the blessings he has given us than we feel an unimaginable amount of happiness. Our hearts will feel satisfied with this and this only. Think about it, our hearts have a capacity to love that is not limited. The amount of love that we have is not measurable. It is not fit for us to love something that will come to an end more than our love for Allah, the The Ever Lasting. We cannot be satisfied to love something that is finite, that has an ending and will die one day. We will never be able to fill something a whose capacity is as vast as our hearts with minute, small things. You can never be satisfied with that.  But having the love of Allah in our hearts is enough for the heart to feel complete satisfaction.

*Truly in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest"*
