The Virtue of Wudu'

Bismillaah

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "Shall I not tell you something by which Allah effaces the sins and elevates ranks (in Jannah)?'' The Companions said; "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah.'' He (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "Performing the Wudu' thoroughly in spite of difficult circumstances.... and that is Ar-Ribat, and that is Ar-Ribat.'' (Muslim)

Commentary:  Hardship and unpleasantness here stand for the uneasiness that one feels while performing Wudu' in severe cold. Ar-Ribat  means watching the frontiers or battlefront to check the invasion of the enemy. To wait for the next Salat after offering a Salat is regarded as Ribat for the reason that by so doing, a person who is particular in offering Salat keeps himself constantly engaged in the obedience and worship of Allah to keep Satan away from him.

My personal experience with making voluntary wudu (outside of prayers)? Let me list it for you.

1) Patience: My God, if you ever feel frustrated and annoyed please make wudu. You will come back refreshed and happy and you'll forget why you were even upset to begin with. You can deal with tough situations in more relaxed way.

2) Manners: You become more welcoming when in this state of cleanliness. Ever wish to be happy and welcoming to others but its just so hard to look them in the face and smile?  Like its the most difficult thing in the world? Wudu changes everything. Even to the person you don't normally get a long with, there will be a smile waiting for them and a warm greeting. Try it out, lets say your mom, or your brothers coming home. And you want to make the feel welcome, go and make wudu, Im telling you they'll be surprised at your hospitality. They might even ask why your so happy. Normally we want to be good to our families but sometimes it becomes difficult. But being in state of wudu just brings out the nicest side of you. Easily

3) Controls Emotions: Ever  find yourself angry. And you dont know what your gonna do or say next? You better go make wudu. Wudu calms you down, and if you find yourself about to explode, excuse yourself and find your way to the place you wash up. You know shaytaan runs in our veins and bieng angry is one the best ways he can have control over our emotions, if we allow him. Not when your in wudu, he cannot have power over you then.

4) Taqwa: Ever wish to constantly be in a state of awareness of Allah? To do things he wants us to do and to stay away from those other things? This awareness comes easy to those who keep themselves in a state of purity.

5) Sleep: You can have the best sleep in this state. You get some good sleep. None of that tossing and turning. You'll knock out straight.

*May Allah make of those who constantly turn to him, and make us of those who keep themselves clean and pure. Ameen.*
