Eternal Bond

Thoughts of a Lady

My two loves: Soul-mates & Dreams

"It was like-souls she attracted and loved. Souls and hearts that were just like hers. With whomever she loved deeply it was because she felt a familiarity, a connection. Something she couldn't grasp but was aware of. A bond was there. And she strongly believed in the concept of soul mates. She could testify to it. Soul mates, the people she once knew in the prior realm of existence. Those who were with her, in the same ranking.

It was these individuals, that if she met in this life, a closeness and an unbreakable bond  would be formed. It's these people one would gravitate towards, naturally. Even in a packed room, one could gaze around and feel a particularly strong of feeling of love for those select few individuals. These are the ones you'd  fall in love with easily, just from the way they spoke, or from how they wrote, to even the way they thought, and sometimes just from the energy they radiate. Sometimes you wouldn't even have to see them and you would still fall for them deeply. There's something about their aura that's so captivating, you couldn't help but be drawn towards them. Soul mates are the ones we understand well, and  those who understand us, without much explanation. There's always a longing to be near them, people we could trust and easily talk to, naturally. Nothing ever has to be forced.

Sometimes words wouldn't even be needed because silence would speak itself. One could sense the others sadness or worry, and each would just had an uncanny understanding of one another. It's spectacular, the concept of soul mates. Having a friend from another world!  Perhaps with soul mates, a connection could even be made in dreams. Because if one already knew each other in the other life, the spirit life, wouldn't it only be natural that one could recognise the other in dreams too? And Allah knows best.

Imaam al-Bukhaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) reported in his Saheeh that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying: ‘Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognise, they get along with, and those whom they do not recognise, they will not get along with.’” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari)

The dream world is a different world. The spiritual world. Great insight could be gained if one could only remember and understand them. Sometimes dreams are only our subconsious realities that come to life. We sometimes dream of the things we desire, the things we wish for. Other times we dream of the things we fear, loved ones we don't want to lose. These are our subconscious thoughts, the thoughts we suppress during the day. Then there are dreams that are from shaytan himself. We will know he was tampering with our dreams because we will wake up feeling frightened. Such dreams we should never speak about to others. Then there dreams that are true. The ones where certain things play out during the day when we least expect it. A vision of some sort. A believer can expect a lot of those based on the hadith mentioning that towards the end of time, hardly any dream will be untrue. This is the reason why.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “That will be because the Prophethood and its effects will be so far away in time, so the believers will be given some compensation in the form of dreams which will bring them some good news or will help them to be patient and steadfast in their faith.”
(Bukhaari)

May Allah grant us deeper understanding of dream interpretation and bless us with the companionship of our soul-mates forever and always and unite us all in Paradise. x
