Smile for Me

Rasulallah saw said, “Smiling in the face of your brother is charity.."

Ever wonder why it's charity? That's because we are in need of if. When someone smiles at you, they give you a feeling of acceptance. You feel accepted, and appreciated. Its welcoming, it makes you feel really good, the fact that someone is happy to see you. It gives us pleasure to see that someone else is pleased by looking at us. That someone is pleased with us.  How fulfilling is that? Very satisfying.

As humans we have this emotional need to be acknowledged, to be appreciated. Even from those we can't stand. Its something we are desperately in need of. We also have this natural tendency to want to please others and have people pleased with us. And when someone shows us their not happy with us, for no understandable reason, we can't handle that and we show this by turning gears and showing resentment to him or her. You may get thoughts like, "how can they not like me?" Us humans, we like to see us as totally blameless, the fault has to be on someone else so we put the blame on them, finding something to resent them for. Just because they didn't fulfill our emotional need. Strange.

But we can fall in love with people who smile at us. Not because we love them or because their good people, but because they give us what we want, what we really need. They make us feel good about ourselves. Im not kidding. Sooner or later you come to realize it was never really about who you were. It was about how to made others feel.

They didn't like you because you had nice clothes, or because you were beautiful, but because you made them feel special. You made them feel worthy. And it turn they mirrored what you made them feel.

Remember, its not about you, its about them. You honor them, they honor you. But it has to  be done sincerely though, because people can smell insincerity a mile away.

So smile, especially to for your family members. They, if anyone, is in need of it more than any other human being. It'll be source of mercy from you to them, and they'll show their gratitude to you, trust me. So smile, Its Sunnah! Besides that, it improves your looks too!
