Niqab. Halal Chicken. Beard game or...?

Bismillah

I've noticed a trend in our community that kinda worries me a little. It seems that we're lacking a bit in the knowledge of our religion. A lot of us are caught in Fiqhi debates of whether wearing niqab is wajib or not when our own Aqeedah is shaky. We're focusing on those minor aspects of the religion and forgetting about the more serious matters, the bigger picture. Matters some of us aren't even we aware of.

When Islam was in its early days, you'll come to notice that a lot of the time and emphasis was placed on the Aqeedah part of the religion; knowing about Allah, his names, his attributes, what constituted as belief and disbelief, what it meant to be in the fold of Islam. etc. Emphasis was placed on Belief first before the laws were introduced and implemented. In fact the majority of the laws came a decade after the message first began. And there is wisdom behind that.

We got it the other way around tho. Were busy trying to force laws down peoples throats telling others the hukum on this and that, not even first considering what level the person is at. Not even considering if the person has his fundamentals of Islam set straight. Were busy labeling, others, "sufi, Wahaabi, Salafi," etc.. Taking the focus OFF of our selves and pointing fingers. But WE ourselves dont have the religion right. We should focus on ourselves, meaning finding time to educate ourselves on the matters of the deen to should check to see if our own aqeedah is correct.

Whats scary is if we study Aqeedah, we will see that many of us have strayed without realizing.(May Allah guide us and keep us on the path) We've taken those things that would normally constitute as Shirk lightly (perhaps not knowing about its realities) For example, believing in horoscopes, or just straight reading them, belief in the stars, palm reading, visiting fortunetellers, calling on Rasulallah, visiting graves, praying to a mawlana and what not. These things ruin a persons Islam. Most dont know that. So we have a person who may have already taken himself from the fold of Islam from these acts of disbelief and now he's busy debating whether the chicken from Macdonalds is Halal or not. Really tho?

The aqeedah part of the religion for most of us IS shaky. How can we be so focused on niqab, or hijab or the beard, what meat is halal when the inner realities are off? I can say that majority of us have even the basic to learn about the religion. And yet were still getting into debates when we arent even aware of the fundamentals of Tawheed.

And I honestly think these small minute issues are only dividing us. We should be united because we all believe in Allah and take Islam as our way of life. We shouldnt be divided and separate ourselves from each other because this person is following this mathab and the other isnt.

When did we become the judges of others and who gave us the right to deem this specific person an apostate or not? Its fair to know what actions will take one out of Islam for our own good so we wont do those things, but to point fingers at a person and judge them? That is NOT our job. Remember that.

I have a feeling that if we as individuals took the focus off of others and returned it to ourselves for some self reflection, we'd notice our own faults and hopefully work on them.

I think every single Muslim needs to be educated in the matters of his deen. We need to. Hopefully when we do learn we'll notice whats worth fighting over and these Fiqhi debates that are dividing us will come to and end iA.

Till then lets study more. And lets leave these issues and debates with the scholars, because that's their job. :)

Enjoy your day!
