Being alone
But why is it, in those late hours that everything you try to suppress comes to life? Those fears you have, the insecurities, all the anxieties and everything else? It can be suffocating. But relieving because no one else may be awake. So maybe you can finally let out those tears. Maybe you can finally call out your Lord and pray sincerely. But frightening, because you're alone, and all you want is to be held, to be told it’s gonna be okay, that there doesn’t need to be any reckless actions done to relieve the anxiety. But no one is awake, never mind to help put those worries to sleep. So you try to put your mind to sleep. Hoping that maybe things will be better in the morning and you don’t have to become hopeless or sad. It's just a 'moment' your having you tell yourself. And that it will all be over soon.
That's the time when real connection is made. Soul connection. Have you ever sat outside and looked at the stars and just poured your heart out to a friend, someone that cares? Have you ever gone for a walk, and it was just you and your thoughts in the stillness of night?
Whether your alone or with someone you love, Allah is always present and he answers the prayers of those that call out to him. It's a special time, these wee hours of the night, and guaranteed, we only spend it with those we love.
It’s a beautiful thing that Allah descends in the last part of the night. Only Allah knows how much we need to be heard and understood. Only Allah knows the compassion and love we need. When no one else is there, He is there. For whoever wants it.

May Allah accept from us our fasts!
